It´s strictly Drum´n´Bass!

Am Dienstag, d. 03.02.15

Und wieder wird demnächst ein spannender act unsere Stadt heimsuchen, welcher somit unter die Skankin´Beatz-Lupe genommen werden muss. Diesmal handelt es sich um gleich zwei Personen: Current Value - schon lange ein Garant für heftige, aber äußerst crispe Produktionen und Dean Rodell - vormals eher im Techno unterwegs. Die beiden bilden zusammen das Projekt Machine Code und beehren, wie könnte es anders sein, das Sabotage im Rahmen der "days of rough attack" am 20. Februar. Bei uns gibt es einen Vorgeschmack anhand einer Selektion ihrer bisherigen Kollektivarbeit.

Dazu gesellen sich die neu erschienenen compilations "hospitality 2015", "1 year of Figment Rec.", "liquidation vol.2" und die top tunes der Vorwoche.

It´s strictly Drum´n´Bass!

Am Dienstag, d. 03.03.15

Auch in dieser Woche werfen wir wieder das spotlight auf insgesamt drei tonschöpferische Künstler bzw. Projekte.

Los geht´s mit Freebird, der gerade sein Debütalbum "breaks from inside" auf Liquid Drops abgeliefert hat. Dass sein sound dabei so frisch und organisch daherkommt, ist nicht verwunderlich, denn schließlich reicherte er seine Titel unter Hinzuziehung von Gastmusikern u.a. mit Gitarre, Bass, Saxofon und Trompete an.

Ivy Lab ist das Projekt von Sabre, Stray und Halogenix und bündelt auf der neuen ep "twenty questions" einmal mehr die langjährige Produktionserfahrung der einzelnen Mitwirkenden. Heraus kam dabei ein mutiges und experimentelles Artefakt mit einem Schwall Halfstep, bei überwiegend Leftfield- bzw. Newskool-artig anmutenden Stücken.

Im dritten Teil widmen wir uns der ungarischen "supergroup" Cloud 9+, welche über die Jahre ebenfalls durch den Einsatz analoger Instrumente einen ganz eigenen Crossoversound zwischen Bass Music, Rock und House entwickelten. Ein erstes Resümee ziehen sie nun mit ihrem Album "supernova".

Voranschreiten werden wir in der Sendung mit den neu herausgegebenen compilations "two hundred" auf Liquid Brilliants, "Drum´n´Bass warehouse anthems vol.4 auf LW, "elite vol.4" auf Multi Function sowie der "15 years of Technique"-Zusammenstellung.

Dicht dazu aufschließen werden zu guter Letzt die top tunes der Vorwoche, ggf. ergänzt durch die ein oder andere Überraschung im Rahmen der Extrazeit.

In der kommenden Runde "Danger!" im Sabotage geben sich die lokalen Haudegen gemeinsam mit dem nächsten Hochkaräter ein Stelldichein: Joe Ford! Nach releases auf verschiedenen top-class-labels hat er nun einen Exclusivplatz auf Shogun Audio gefunden. Wir verfolgen in der Sendung anhand eines specials seinen musikalischen Werdegang zurück bis hin zu Zeiten, in denen er seinen Vornamen noch wegließ.

Es ist schon erstaunlich, welch musikalisch interessante Geschöpfe weiterhin in den Kellergewölben der hiesigen Subkulturlandschaft gedeihen. Insofern dürfen wir, nicht ganz ohne Stolz, verkünden, eine ebensolche Auster gefunden zu haben und gewissermaßen die Perle darin präsentieren zu dürfen.

Unterwegs in den weiten Gefilden der elektronischen Musik kann der junge Mann, der für den Namen „Planetary Secrets“ steht, bereits auf Veröffentlichungen bei ETUI-Records und demnächst bei OFFWORLD, Visceral Vibrations und Edaphon verweisen. Und das, obwohl seine intensiveren Erfahrungen mit der Erschaffung von Sound- und Rhythmuswelten erst in 2013 begannen. Davon wird er uns heute berichten und sicherlich die ein oder auch andere Kostprobe darbieten.

Dazu erklingen im zweiten Teil der Sendung ausgewählte Neuerscheinungen der letzten Tage aus der Drum & Bass Szenerie in einem bunten Querschnitt.

Am Mittwoch, d. 27.05.15

June Miller ist ein holländisches Duo, welches bereits auf allen Produktionsebenen überzeugte: mit komplett eigenen tunes, mit Kollaborationen (u.a. mit Mefjus, Nymfo, Anile...) sowie in der Königklasse - des remixes (u.a. für BSE, Dr Meaker, Loxy...).
Keine Überraschung also, dass sich Andy C die beiden Wunderknaben für Ram Records schnappte. Und ebenso kein Kuriosum, dass sich diesmal Danger Movement gemeinsam mit Cilistic Inc. ins Zeug gelegt haben, um June Miller bei der nächsten Danger! am 05.06. auf die Sabotage-Meute loszulassen. Für uns natürlich wiederum Grund genug, anhand eines artist-specials einen Querschnitt durch ihr bisheriges Machwerk zu ziehen.

Am Dienstag, d. 02.06.15

Man kann mit ziemlicher Bestimmtheit sagen, dass STROGA das bekannteste Festival in unseren Breiten ist. Auch im elften Jahr sehnen die Fans dieses besondere Wochenende im Juli mit dem auserlesenen kulturellen Programm geradezu herbei. Uns Junglisten erstarren bereits beim Betrachten der Eatbrain Night mit Jade, Kung, L33, Mindscape, Telekinesis und Zombie Cats die Gesichtszüge. Insgesamt spielen in diesem Jahr über 80 acts auf 5 floors!
Doch das alles wäre nicht möglich ohne das umtriebige und emsige Team des Stroga Festival e.V.
Wir begrüßen in dieser Sendung mit Zonk und Boone zwei musikalische Vertreter des Kollektivs und nehmen die beiden ein wenig ins Verhör über die Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft des Happenings.
Desweiteren spielt das Duo für uns ein exklusives Gastset im zweiten Teil der Sendung.

Innerhalb von nur 7 Tagen wird unsere Stadt ab dem 27.06. einmal mehr zum Schauplatz für charakteristischen DnB, insbesondere durch o.g. acts, welche in ihrer ganz eigenen und individuellen Manier bereits yetigroße Spuren innerhalb der Szene hinterließen. Und damit nicht genug, dass sie uns musikalische Marksteine vererben - wir haben auch noch das seltene Glück, sie live und mit vollem Eifer zu erleben: Forbidden Society anlässlich Dopppelbock im Puschkin am 27.06. und Phace plus Qo zum tropischen Wochenende ab dem 03.07.2015 im Sektor Evolution.

Mitten im Sommer sollte man meinen, dass sich producer und labels mit den Veröffentlichungen zurückhalten. In der Breite mag das stimmen.

Nach Labelkollege Dub Phizix, der das Sabotage ebenfalls bereits beehrte, macht sich nun auch Skeptical auf, mit ähnlich gearteten trockenen beats und angerauten grooves, den bestens dazu passenden Club zu erobern.

It´s strictly Drum´n´Bass!

Am Dienstag, d. 01.09.15

Es gibt mittlerweile eine hohe Bandbreite dessen, wie DnB musikalisch und von den Rahmenbedingungen aufgestellt sein soll, um bei einem selbst Wohlgefallen auszulösen. Die einen mögen es eher düster und puristisch, begnügen sich mit einem dunklen Club und nervösen Strobo. Die anderen mögen es eher bunt und verrückt, wollen entertained werden.
In diese Bresche springen die Kollegen von "Wammse Entertainment", deren Selbstverständnis darin besteht, "Events der etwas anderen Art" durchzuführen.
Was es damit auf sich hat und warum Attribute wie "raving", "bad" und "trash" auch zu unserer Lieblingsmusik zuordenbar sind, klären wir in dieser Ausgabe von Skankin´Beatz.

Eingrooven werden wir uns zu Beginn der Sendung u.a. mit fluffigen sounds der "soul sessions vol.1" auf Soulvent sowie den top tunes der Vorwoche.

Unter den vielen Wahldresdnern sind natürlich auch einige Junglisten und Freunde der Bassmusik, die jeweils ihre ganz eigene Biografie aus ihrer Heimatstadt oder den Stationen ihres Lebens und Wirkens mitbrachten. T!LT ist ein Beispiel für jemanden, der schlussendlich in Dresden gelandet ist, dabei aber bereits ein ganzes Bündel Geschichte mit seinen Netzwerken BloodyFeet und JungleTrip inne hatte. Die damit verbundene besondere musikalische Ausrichtung wird er anhand eines dj-sets veranschaulichen, nachdem er uns mit seiner persönlichen Historie vertraut gemacht hat.

Ihren Platz finden werden in der Sendung wie gewohnt die top tunes der Vorwoche und auch wieder ein kleines spotlight, diesmal zu Katharsys - man beachte das anstehende Gastspiel am 03.10. in der Paula!

Am Dienstag, d. 06.10.15

Der Titel des zweiten Albums von Zero T hätte mit "golden section" - goldener Schnitt - nicht besser gewählt sein können. Die Stücke des Longplayers wandeln auf dem Grat zwischen Liquid und Techstep, bleiben dabei aber wunderbar harmonisch und angenehm im Abgang. Dem sicher bekanntesten Exportschlager für DnB aus Irland fehlt indes nur noch der Besuch im Sabotage in Dresden, verbunden mit einem schon jetzt herbeizusehnenden Set am 17.10.2015.
Wir nutzen die Gunst der Stunde und stellen euch in der Zwischenzeit sein neues Album vor, indem wir die Abfolge der enthaltenen tunes durchwürfeln, um sie zu einer eigenen "golden section selection" neu zusammenzusetzen.

Außerdem präsentieren wir euch wie immer die top tunes der Vorwoche und den newcomer der Woche.

Vor etwas mehr als einem Jahr erschien Hybris' Debütalbum "emergence" auf dem Label Invisible, welches von niemand Geringerem als Noisia betreut wird. Wenn man sich einmal intensiver mit den darauf enthaltenen tracks bzw. mit der Musik von Hybris im Allgemeinen beschäftigt, stellt man schnell fest: der Mann ist ein Tüftler, ein Frickler, ein Virtuose. Immer wenn man denkt, man habe auditiv alles entdeckt, kommt irgendwo aus der hintersten Ecke noch ein Bass hervor, liegen Drums leicht verquer oder Pads schachteln sich drumherum. Die Sounds muten industriell, aber futuristisch an; sie sind hart, aber haben Seele. Mit diesem breiten Spektrum passt Hybris als auftretender Gastkünstler bei DAVE ON! am 31.10.2015 im Sektor wunderbar ins Programm. Selbstredend liefert unsere Sendung im Vorlauf ein zünftiges spotlight, bestehend aus seinen Klängen.

Abermals eine ganze Latte top tunes der Vorwoche, der newcomer der Woche und tunes der compilation "prestige vol.2" auf Hocus Pocus runden die Ausstrahlung ab.

Unsere neverending story der spotlights geht weiter mit einem echten Tausendsassa: Optiv! Der Mann ist schon mehr als 15 Jahre im Geschäft und veröffentlichte bereits auf über 20 labels. Demnach dürfte es kaum jemanden wie ihn geben, der die Geheimnisse und Raffinessen einer qualitativen Produktion ebenso beherrscht, wie die Darbietung eines besonderen dj-sets. Spätestens wenn wir mit Optiv die erste UTM-Session im neuen Club TBA einläuten, wird sein ihn umgebender Nimbus endgültig erlebbar werden.
Für die Sendung begnügen wir uns jedoch vorerst mit seinem musikalischen Lebenswerk - zumindest bis dato.

Weitere soundtechnische Eskapaden unternehmen wir mittels neuer Alben von Potential Badboy, Josephs Perception, Muffler, Enter Shikari, Ed Rush & Optical, Royalston und Naibu. Dazu haben wir Stücke der compilation "neuroporn" sowie die top tunes der Vorwoche im Repertoire.
